This morning, the sun crawled up through the trees looking like a radioactive orange. In the uppermost branches, it disappeared behind the gray sky. By the time I got out of the grocery, nothing but traces of pink were left, fading into the bottom of the horizon.

After that came the mist, and then it rained.
